Petite in the Nation’s Capital

In July my family and I drove out to Ottawa for 2 days – actually barely 2 days, it was just 39 hours in town!  My cousin was getting married in Gatineau, so it was nice to have a vacation that I didn’t have to pay for!  Unfortunately only one night to go out to explore and sight-see.  Anyone know who the man in the bronze statue is?

Petite in Halifax – Day 6: Last Day!

A trip to Halifax wouldn’t be complete without visiting Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.  The restored site was a key naval station during the British Empire.

Petite in Halifax – Day 5: Public Gardens, McDonalds, and Casino Nova Scotia

In my last 2 days in Halifax, I made it a couple of must-see tourist sites.  First stop, Public Gardens.  Ok it wasn’t that impressive, most of the flowers were dried up.  However, the gardens had a really nice vibe and enjoyable atmosphere.  It was Sunday and Haligonians were in the park listening to a band playing.

Petite in Nova Scotia’s South Shore – Day 4: Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg

Nova Scotia’s south shore is a major tourist attraction when visiting Halifax.  The south shore is approximately an hour away from downtown Halifax, but its only about 40 km (25 miles) from the city due to the slow speed limits on the highways.

First stop:  Peggy’s Cove.  A small community with a population of about 46.  Rumoured to be named after Peggy, the sole survivor of a ship wreck once upon a long time ago.  The lighthouse is one of the most-photographed structures in Atlantic Canada.  The weather was great when we were there, but the clouds started to roll in after we left.

Petite in Halifax – Day 1: Finding Our Bearings

Nothing that exciting during the first day in Halifax.  We spent a lot of time trying to get our bearings straight.  The weather was a lot cooler than Toronto.  I was also required to wear my group’s uniform, which was not very flattering on petites! 270016-1

Summerlicious Final Round at Auberge du Pommier

I was initially most excited about this dinner – it was located at one of my favourite Toronto restaurants and I was dining with my old colleagues.  We’ve been talking about doing Auberge for Summerlicious since last year (seriously we were!).  However, the day of the event I forgot about the dinner.  That day I got home from dance class, all sweaty and gross, and my friend called me to inform me that they were waiting inside for me.  I rushed to my room and put on clothes that were on top of the pile – Wilfred Lace Tank I had recently purchased (see haul post here) and the skirt I had worn the night before to a wedding reception.  There was no time to add makeup or fix my hair.
